Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility

Personally and professionally, I have discovered that my Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Accessibility philosophy is rooted in a commitment to continued growth in learning. Ijeoma Oluo shares,

No matter what our intentions, everything we say and do in the pursuit of justice will one day be outdated, ineffective, and yes probably wrong. That is the way progress works. What we do now is important and helpful so long as what we do now is needed now. But the arguments I was having in college are not the arguments the world needs now as I prepare to send my son to college”.

I was fortunate to participate in the ATD DEI in Training Certificate Program. Together we learned how to leverage tools with actionable change, organizational outcomes, and sustainability:

      • Change Management Plan
      • Implementation to Sustainability
      • Organizational Outcomes
      • Impact Strategies
      • Deloitte Impact model

In my previous role with the State of Colorado, Innovation and Change Management, we reclassified my role with a targeted focus on EDIBA. I was involved in: Colorado Department of Healthcare Policy and Finance (HCPF): EDI Education and EDI Health Equity; Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS): Office of Economic Security EDI committee, CDHS EDI 2022-2023 Action Plan Committee, and The Belonging Project.

Design, Development, and 3-tier Assessment Plan
This cross teams project was part of our beta launch presentation with a military contract. Our launch included four tenets: Intelligence/National Security, Game Simulation, Learning Curriculum, Community (forums). I was responsible for the Learning Curriculum (Design, Development, and 3-tier Assessment Plan). Our Instructional Design and cross-UX team developed the Backing Ukraine microlearning course, alongside video/audio courses on Information Security and Open Source Intelligence.

          L.E.A.D. Series: Leadership Development

Curriculum development leadership team of three, design and development on team of two, and facilitate as a LEAD trainer on a team of four.

We developed this leadership series for management and executive leadership state-wide. The developed curriculum focuses on leadership foundations, team building, and change management. The training program is 1-year, 4 quarters, with a 2-day workshop and 1 web forum each quarter. We have implemented COLearn Communities, which is a digital learning hive for continued communications asynchronously. We are facilitating Cohort 2 state-wide with 30 awarded participants. Additionally, we developed a second county cohort tailored to their county's specific leadership team building needs. March 2020 rapid development from live 64-county materials to virtual.

This project is seemingly smaller than larger scaled curriculum, but I am highlighting for its potential impact. FlipGrid, and tools like it, harness capabilities to extend learning in a hybrid model (Just-in-Time (JiT) teaching, microlearning.

Harnesses potential to extend Professional Development, competency-based, and back channel conferences.

Coursera MOOCS: Newborn Baby Healthcare Specialization

Led Coursera MOOCs project as Project Manager and Design & Develop Lead, coordinating internal and external partnerships, stakeholder communications (University of Colorado President's Office, CU Anschutz Medical Campus, CU School of Medicine, Children's Hospital of Colorado, UC Health Hospital, and Coursera). Cross teams content development, video scripting, and productions (17 medical specialists and two directors).

One of the most challenging and rewarding parts of this project involved coordinating the filming on a newborn baby's skill assessment within 10 hrs of birth. Baby Colette was literally the highlight of the project.

Tech: Adobe Photoshop, TechSmith Camtasia, PlayPosit, Camtasia. A professional videographer filmed all video.

Teaching, Training, EdTech Research & Presentations

With over fifteen years of direct classroom experience (live, online, and hybrid) and two decades of faculty development, I began my journey as the Online Course Director for The Center for Legal Studies (2000-2010).

I appreciate the adult learning, Higher Education and EdTech experience that this foundational position provided, as I supported faculty, reviewed faculty evaluations, communicated with 400+ contracted universities, helped design and develop curriculum, managed LMS and the server, and led "all things online".

As an educator and lifelong learner, I have taught for Montana State University, MSU College of Technology, University of Denver, and Montana State Women’s Prison. I've taught various disciplines ranging from web and media, graphics and coding, EdTech Integration, to Project Management.

I have trained faculty development and State partnered trainings, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility, leadership development, coaching, State of Colorado policy and legislative rule, and Salesforce upskilling.

Courses that I have taught or currently teaching: Project Management, Tech Essentials, Web Fundamentals, and Advanced Web. I currently serve as an internship advisor for graduate students working in the tech field.

As a contracted adjunct, I am able to choose which courses I teach and how often, including choice of formats (on-campus evenings, online, or hybrid).
